The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in Bauchi State has been called upon to focus on developing traditional sports at the grassroots level. Mallam Rabiu Sani, North East Zonal Manager of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), made the appeal during a courtesy visit by SWAN executives to his office.

Sani emphasized the importance of encouraging traditional sports like Kokawa, Dambe, and Langa, which can help identify talents to represent the state at local and international levels.

Earlier, SWAN Chairman Bala Bawaji explained that the visit was part of the new executives’ efforts to introduce themselves to critical stakeholders in sports development, foster cordial relationships, and seek continued support for the association’s activities.

Bawaji outlined the association’s plans for the year, including a refresher course, single and team events, and the annual media games.

In response, General Manager of NTA Bauchi Hajiya Fatima Isa, Managing Director of BRC Chindo Waziri, and his BATV counterpart Comrade Muhammad Garba Ningi offered valuable advice and pledged support for the association’s success in the state.
