The Syndicate in Supporting Women and Children Initiatives (SISWACHI) has commenced a training program for stakeholders on developing a multi-sectoral costed plan to effectively implement the Safe School Declaration (SSD) bill 2024 in Bauchi State.
According to Ms. Sadiya Iliyasu, Executive Director of SISWACHI, the one-day training aims to equip Ministries with the necessary methodologies to ensure safety in schools once the bill becomes a law.
The training, conducted in collaboration with the Women Advocates Research and Document Center (WARDC) and funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDF), brought together stakeholders from various Ministries and agencies.
Ms. Iliyasu emphasized the importance of a structured and well-resourced action plan, stating that a robust framework will guide actions and maximize impact. Participants included representatives from the Ministries of Budget and Economic Planning, Women Affairs, Education, and Humanitarian and Security agencies.
Alhaji Aliyu Babayo, Permanent Secretary of the Bauchi State Ministry for Education, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to implementing guidelines and tools for safe schools, assuring that the ministry will take action as soon as the SSD bill becomes a law in Bauchi State.
