As Nigeria celebrates its 64 years of indepence, the Senator, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba has called on President Bola Tinubu and all Nigerian leaders to do more in alleviating the sufferings of ordinary Nigerians.
Buba made the call in his goodwill message in commemoration of Independence day on Tuesday in Bauchi.
According to him, both conventional and all other humanly possible avenues must constantly be mobilized in the journey to national rebirth where the greatest happiness presents a challenge all must face head-on.
This, he said, would ensure that all and sundry feel the comfort of the promising tomorrow.
“As we celebrate Nigeria’s 64th independence amidst these very times, I encourage us especially the leaders to soberly reflect, rededicate ourselves to the service of the nation and its great people while relating with the common man in a manner that encourages them to play their part.
“This way and with almighty God helping us, our country will surely attain its potential and become the great nation that it is destined to be.
“For Mr President and other leaders at the Federal level, I say that the times call for sober reflection, continuous engagement and determination to do more to alleviate the sufferings of the ordinary people.
“Gladly, it is noteworthy to observe that some of the policies of the government may have started yielding fruits but that should only serve as a further motivation for leaders to do more such that the purchasing power of the common man and his access to basic facilities of life is improved,” said.
Buba, who acknowledged that over the years, insecurity had become a
recurring issue that added to the challenges of poverty and deteriorating living conditions of the people, said “with more efforts from all of us and better results from our men and officers in the frontline of the operations to combat these problems, we shall get it right”.
He commended the efforts by the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both national and state levels toward fostering genuine reconciliation, rebuilding the party and proffering pragmatic ideas, suggestions and other value addition services that would engender the much needed turn around in our country.
On his part, Buba promised to continue to
provide quality representation that is able to in some modest ways, deliver dividends of democracy to the people in his constituency and the state at large.
