The Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) in Bauchi State has refuted allegations that 30 PhD holders have resigned due to poor salaries.
This was contained in a statement signed by Malam Auwal Hassan,Public Relations Office of the University made available to Journalists on Sunday in Bauchi
According to the university’s management, these claims are “misleading, inaccurate, and unfounded” as no resignation letters citing poor salary as the reason have been received.
“In fact, the university states that only six PhD holders have left or are away from the university in the past 1 year and 10 months, citing personal reasons unrelated to salary concerns. The university’s statistics reveal:
“Dismissals 6 persons due to abscondment or disciplinary grounds, Sabbatical Leave 2 persons, Secondment, 2 persons,Leave of Absence1 person
SAZU boasts a total of 397 academic staff, including 18 professors, 9 readers, 57 senior lecturers, and 80 PhD holders.
The university prides itself on prioritizing staff welfare and development, with initiatives such as timely salary payments, promotions, and training programs.
“Under the current administration, the university has Promoted numerous academic staff with full payment of promotion arrears.
“Trained 100 staff on grant-winning proposals and research innovation
“Received financial support from the state government for accreditation and infrastructure development.
“Employed over 160 qualified staff with ongoing recruitment for more academic staff,” It said.
However, the university urges the public to disregard the misleading report and verify information through official channels, welcoming constructive engagement and fact-based discussion.
