President Bola Tinubu has stated that Nigeria’s economy has moved beyond the sabotage phase. He made this assertion during the meeting of African Heads of State and Government on the 21st Replenishment of the International Development Association (IDA21) in Nairobi, Kenya. Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu highlighted the extensive reforms undertaken by his administration to combat illicit activities and currency manipulation that had previously impeded the nation’s advancement. He emphasized his commitment to fulfilling his promise of ending the influence of economic saboteurs and expressed satisfaction with the progress made in Nigeria’s economy.

He conveyed Nigeria’s belief that the summit’s declaration would mirror the collective requirements of African and IDA nations, capturing their diverse perspectives, consensus, aspirations, and forecasts.

Tinubu outlined Nigeria’s priorities for economic recovery in his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on poverty alleviation, economic growth, employment generation, improved capital access, food security, and inclusivity.

He also emphasized the significance of regional economic integration, such as the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement, to eliminate investment barriers and enable entry into international markets.

“Our trajectory towards the future hinges on fostering strategic alliances with other nations and development bodies. Thus, we will leverage our absolute and comparative advantages to forge partnerships across borders,” stated the president.
