In a tragic incident yesterday in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, a police van was ambushed, resulting in the deaths of four police operatives and a POS (Point of Sale) operator. The attack was perpetrated by a group identified as Biafra Soldiers.

According to eyewitness accounts and confirmed reports from Muchee News, the incident took place during the early hours of the morning. The assailants, armed and prepared, targeted the police van in a coordinated strike, leaving no survivors. The attack coincided with a sit-at-home order declared by the group, which had warned of disruptions across the region.

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The Commissioner of Police, Imo State, has condemned the attack, calling it a “senseless act of violence” and has assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our brave officers and an innocent civilian. Such acts of violence will not be tolerated, and we are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice,” the Commissioner stated.

Residents of Owerri and surrounding areas have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police. The sit-at-home order, which significantly disrupted normal activities, is part of a series of actions taken by the Biafra Soldiers to assert their demands.

Muchee News continues to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
