Police confirm 1 dead, 2 injured in a chaos in Bauchi

Police Command Bauchi State has confirmed on dead two injured in a chaos caused by a quasi-security outfit at Zaranda Village of Toro local government area of the State.

SP Ahmed Wakil, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command told Journalists on Tuesday in Bauchi

He said a chaotic scene unfolded in Zaranda village, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, on September 10, 2024,

“When a quasi-security outfit, the Nigerian Hunters Forestry and Security Service, allegedly opened fire on a crowd, resulting in the death of one person and injuring two others.

“The incident occurred when a charcoal dealer was arrested, leading to a blockade of the highway road.

“The police were alerted to the situation and promptly deployed a team of detectives to the scene,” he said

According to him, upon investigation, it was revealed that the sporadic firing by the quasi-security outfit resulted in the serious injury of Abubakar Yahaya, 35, Hussaini Yunusa, 20, and Yayangida Hussaini, 16, all from Zaranda Gari village.

“They were rushed to the Primary HealthCare Center Zaranda Gari, where Abubakar Yahaya succumbed to his injuries.

Wakil said the Command has taken control of the situation and launched a thorough investigation into the incident.

“The Commissioner of Police, (CP) Auwal Musa has instructed tactical teams to handle the situation professionally and ensure the road is reopened for commuters.

The PRO assured that those responsible for the incident will be identified, investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The CP commended the officers and men of the Command for their selfless dedication to public service and their adept management of crowds during the challenging situation,” he said,
