Police Arrest 15 Suspects, Launch Investigation into Attack on Civilian JTF Office

A violent clash broke out in the Kandahar area of Bauchi metropolis on December 18, 2024, when a group of youths attacked innocent civilians and targeted the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) office.

The assailants set fire to the JTF office and a portion of the State Government Primary School, causing widespread damage and distress ¹.

During the unrest, members of the Civilian JTF confronted the attackers, resulting in one of the assailants, 22-year-old Saidu Musa, sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest.

A team of police operatives promptly responded to the situation, de-escalating the conflict and evacuating Musa to the Specialist Hospital for medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was a retaliatory act by disgruntled youths who had encountered the Civilian JTF in the area the previous day.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has condemned the attack and urged citizens to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

Fifteen suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing.

The State Criminal Investigation Department has been directed to undertake a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
