A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, Alhaji Garba Mohammed Noma, has declared that the party will rally behind credible candidates in the 2027 governorship election, irrespective of their local government of origin.

Speaking during a press briefing in Bauchi on Monday, Noma dismissed rumors suggesting that he would only back aspirants from Bauchi Local Government Area, where he hails from.

He described such claims as false and misleading, emphasizing that his loyalty lies with the party and its mission to present the best candidate for the people of Bauchi State.

“As a chieftain and a critical stakeholder of the PDP, I will support any credible aspirant or candidate from any part of the state.

“Despite being from Bauchi Local Government, that does not mean I will not support a qualified aspirant from another local government area.

“ What matters most is competence, credibility, and the ability to deliver good governance.” Noma stated.

Noma, who previously served as the PDP Chairman in the state, reiterated his desire to see the emergence of a competent leader in 2027, stressing that his priority remains the progress and unity of the party.

He emphasised that the PDP’s priority is to ensure good governance and leadership that will drive development in the state.

The chieftain stated that party members and stakeholders are committed to supporting candidates with integrity, competence, and a clear vision for Bauchi State, rather than focusing on zoning or sectional politics.

“Our goal is to present and support the best candidate who can deliver progress for the people of Bauchi State.

“The emphasis should be on merit, capability, and dedication to public service, not just on where someone comes from,” he said.
