The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has flagged off its its nationwide campaign on five key areas including tax reform bill, World HIV Day, Security Awareness, Discouraging Get rich quick syndrome and world human rights day in Bauchi state.
Addressing journalists on Wednesday at the Federal Secretariat Bauchi in a press conference the Director General of the agency Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu insisted the tax reform is laden with many gains that will benefit the general public.
Contrary to claims that the bill is anti North, the DG said it is lack of proper awareness on the gains on proposed tax reforms is the reason behind the kicks it is receiving from different quarters.
Represented by the National Director Planning Research and strategy Nuru Yusuf Kobi, the DG said the agency is poised at promoting awareness ethical values and national development.
He highlighted some of the benefits of the bills to include but not limited to centralized taxing system, support for low income earners, simple and transparent processes, visible impact of taxes adding that the tax reform bill will soon be made available in local languages for deeper understanding by members of the public
Apart from the tax reform bill, the DG said the agency is Flagging off sensitization campaign on other areas including world HIV day, security awareness, discouraging get rich quick syndrome and world human rights day.
Earlier in her address of welcome, the state director of the agency Mrs Theresa Omaga said they intend to lead efforts to every community in the 20 local government areas of Bauchi state .
According to her, amplifying the efforts to make the message resonate with every Nigerian is at the centre of their interests.
