In a bold move to boost agricultural productivity and empower women, the Nigeria Women Cooperatives Federation Alliance (NIWCOFA), in collaboration with Nagari Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd Bauchi, has organized a comprehensive training seminar for women agripreneurs in Dass Local Government Area.

The seminar, themed “Why Farmers Don’t Get Good Yield,” focused on rejuvenating farming activities through improved techniques, cooperative cluster farming, and sack farming initiatives aimed at financial independence for women.

Speaker Mr. Kunle Bamgbose provided an in-depth overview of the current agricultural challenges, including declining soil fertility and the need for more sustainable farming practices. He emphasized the critical role of women and youth in addressing these issues.

Agricultural expert Mr. Ben Ayodeji delivered practical solutions to common problems contributing to low farm yields. His session covered essential topics such as seed selection, proper plant spacing, soil testing and fertilization, pest and disease management, and effective post-planting care.

Dr. Saadiya Ilyasu, the Dass LGA Coordinator, encouraged the 30 participants to maximize the knowledge gained and use it to enhance food security in their communities.

The seminar marks a significant step toward promoting gender-inclusive and sustainable agriculture in Bauchi State, particularly during the wet season and in urban sack farming settings.
