Brig Gen. Uchechukwu Simon has assumed command of the 33 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, in Bauchi, with a call to officers and soldiers to support him in his new role.

This is contained in a statement signed by Capt Atang Solomon, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 33 Artillery Brigade, made available to newsmen weekend

It said Simon took over from outgoing Commander, Brig Gen.l Emmanuel Egbe, who led the Brigade meritoriously for two years.

Gen. Simon expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen.l Olufemi Oluyede, and Commander Corps of Artillery, Maj Gen. Zakari Abubakar, for appointing him as the 44th Commander of the Brigade.

He urged personnel to align with the COAS’s Command Philosophy, focusing on a well-motivated and combat-ready force.

The handover ceremony, held at the Brigade Headquarters, Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi, was attended by officers, soldiers, and the Barracks community.

General Simon commended Gen. Egbe for his humility and promised to build on his predecessor’s developmental strides.

In his farewell address, Gen. Egbe thanked God, the COAS, and other stakeholders for their support during his tenure.

He encouraged officers and soldiers to extend the same level of support to his successor.

The ceremony included a Quarter Guard drill, signing of Handing and Taking Over notes, and a farewell bidding by members of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association and other groups.
