MSF deployed first female official driver to play Bauchi roads

The Medical San Frontier(MSF) Nigeria,Bauchi office says it has engaged and deployed a female official driver to ply Bauchi roads as an official driver with the task of conveying staff,medical consumable and other official engagement to all communities of their intervention in Bauchi state.

MSF is working on Ganjuwa and Miya communities which cover tpa distance of 98 kilometers on federal highway.

Speaking to newsmen recently, Mr Johna Colleen, MSF Project coordinator, said that the non profit organization in 2014 launched a campaign to empower women to fill various positions in the organization.

“We have in MSF female security,supply officer,assistant human resources manager and the driver all been women all to address the gap,”he said.

He said the action has keyed into recruiting women into various positions to realize their potential.

Narrating her ordeal, 40 years old Ms Rita Simi commenced the job of official driver from Bauchi to Ganjuwa local Government band it’s environ seven years ago.

According to her, driving was a passion that she later embraced to be a source of livelihood.

” I started as a driver with a sales representative organization.

” I obtained my Higher National Diploma and driving professional certificate to take up a driver’s position.

” Initially it was not easy with the men colleges but later they supported me and it has been wonderful working amidst them” she explained.

She said as the first female driver to be employed by MSF,the opportunity was an opener for women.

Ibrahim attributed her skills to passion,commitment and desire to explore her potential.

She advocated for opportunities for gender inclusion in organizations to allow women explore areas of expertise for development.

Ibrahim also urged women to showcase their talents and avail themselves at any given opportunity across all fields.
