As Muslims prepare to mark Eid El-Adha, Hon. Jafaru Leko, Member representing Bogoro, Dass, and Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency in Bauchi State, has distributed food items and cash worth N50 million to his constituents
Speaking at the distribution ceremony on Wednesday in Bauchi, Alhaji Jibrin Hussaini, Chairman of the Distribution Committee, said the initiative is part of the lawmaker’s annual tradition of supporting residents during festive seasons.
According to him, food items valued at N30 million and cash donations amounting to N20 million were shared among the people.
“This is aimed at reducing the burden many families are facing during this Sallah period, and it’s part of the honorable member’s ongoing efforts to serve the people beyond legislation,” he said.
“The beneficiaries cut across religious and political lines, including Muslims, Christians, APC stakeholders, women and youth groups, and loyal constituents across the three local government areas,” he said
Mr. Rabiu Garba, APC Legal Adviser in the state, commended the lawmaker’s humanitarian efforts.
“Jafaru Leko has consistently stood by his people. He doesn’t wait for election seasons to support the grassroots.
“ His record includes numerous empowerment initiatives, employment facilitation, and infrastructural development,” Garba stated.
A grateful recipient, Mrs. Zuwaira Yakubu, who is also a women leader, said the support came at a crucial time.
“Families are struggling due to the current economic realities. This gesture will make our Sallah celebrations meaningful and dignified,” she remarked.
Our Correspondent reports that the event witnessed large attendance from across the constituency, with several community leaders and residents lauding the gesture.
