Bauchi State Government has vowed to remove all administrative obstacles hindering lifesaving interventions in the health sector.
This commitment was made by the State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Sani Mohammed Dambam, during an advocacy visit by the Community of Practice (CoP) on Friday.
According to Dr. Dambam, the state of emergency declared in the health sector by Governor Bala Mohammed has already removed major administrative bottlenecks.
However, there is still work to be done, particularly in addressing the issue of zero-dose vaccination rates in 13 out of the state’s 20 local government areas.
To tackle this challenge, the Ministry of Health has pledged to support the Zero Dose Learning Hub and other initiatives aimed at achieving Universal Immunization Coverage.
The Advocacy team, led by Dr. Hassan Shuaibu Musa and Jinjiri Garba, urged the Ministry to adopt an Accountability Framework, ensuring sustainable budget tracking and accountability in managing immunization finances.
Dr. Musa emphasized the importance of increased immunization funding, timely release of funds, and sustainable accountability.
He also educated the Commissioner on the African Health Budget Network (AHBN) and African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), highlighting their role in implementing the Zero Dose Learning Hub in Ganjuwa and Bauchi Local Government Areas.
AFENET State Lead, Dr. Habila Ismaila, appreciated the Commissioner’s pledge to support the implementation of the Zero Dose Learning Hub.
