The state Director National Orientation Agency (NOA) Mrs Theresa Omaga have alerted the public particularly farmers and /or those in riverine areas in Bauchi to exercise extreme caution due to the incessant rainfall that have ravaged communities and rendered some farmers helpless.
Contained in a press release signed by the State Director herself the agency also sympathize with those facing losses, while emphasizing the need to take safety precautions to avoid or minimize further losses.
According to the release, due to persistent rain in many areas which have resulted in flooding, residents in such areas are advised to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in flood-prone areas.
It cautioned that those who must leave their home “should use elevated routes and avoid walking or driving through water-covered streets, as it is difficult to gauge the depth and potential hazards of floodwaters”.
The release further advised residents to note the changes in weather as some places will be experiencing draught urging those in such area not to panic but continue with their other activities as the rain will still come and may even last till November.
The NOA also recommends that people with essential services or responsibilities in affected areas stay updated on recent Nimet predictions receiving timely updates as they will closely be monitoring the situation and continue to provide updates and guidance as it evolves.
