Fahimta Women and Youth Development Initiative (FAWOYDI) has called on the general public to raise their voices against the negative impact of violence and abuse against women, girls, children, aged parents, and the less privileged.
Mrs. Dinah Daniel, Executive Director of FAWOYDI, the call was made during an awareness campaign and rally to mark the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence (GBV) at Sabon Kaura community and Tambari housing estate suburb of Bauchi metropolis
The event highlighted the dangers of GBV in communities and emphasized the need for collective action to prevent such violence. FAWOYDI’s efforts are part of a broader movement to promote women’s rights and empowerment in Nigeria.
As a non-governmental organization, FAWOYDI has been working to promote the rights and well-being of women and youth in Bauchi State and beyond. Their initiatives focus on education, health, economic empowerment, and human rights.
Hajiya Aisha Ahmed, a community leader, commended FAWOYDI for its efforts to raise awareness about GBV.
“This is a critical issue that affects us all,” she said. “We must work together to prevent GBV and support survivors.”
Mallam Musa Mohammed, a youth leader, emphasized the importance of involving men and boys in the fight against GBV.
“We must recognize that GBV is not just a women’s issue, but a human rights issue that affects us all,” he said.
