The Association for Orphaned and Vulnerable Children in Nigeria (AONN) Bauchi Chapter, in partnership with the Nigerian Women Trust Fund (NWTF), conducted a community project feedback meeting.
The meeting was held on 29 and 30 of October 2024 in Dass and Bauchi Local government areas of the State as a result of ending six months approved program implementations by AONN Bauchi State.
It was aimed to assess the impact of the “Strengthening Women’s Rights and Ending Violence against Women and Young Girls” project in the State
Mr Joel Timothy, Project M&E Officer, explained that the six-month project focused on strengthening women’s rights and access to economic resources
“Ending violence against women and young girls and capacity development for social welfare departments.
“Economic empowerment programs for vulnerable women,” he said
Timothy also explained the project through economic empowerment programs such as VSLA and IGA training conducted during the implementations of the project has improved women and young girls’ livelihood.

A traditional leader in Bauchi Alhaji Suleiman Ahmad Bashir praised the project’s impact, stating it has changed the mindset of community members regarding violence against women and girls.
On his part, Malam Sunusi Yakubu from Dass LGA’s social welfare department noted a significant reduction in rape and violence cases.
Abubakar Muhammad, OVC Desk Officer from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Child Development, commended the project’s success and requested NWTF to extend its programs statewide.
Hajiya Binta Adamu, a community women leader, thanked NWTF for supporting vulnerable women through economic empowerment programs.
