The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the potential of 35% of Bauchi’s population, comprising young people, to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At a one-day sensitization program commemorating International Youth Day, State Program Officer Ms. Deborah Tabara emphasized UNFPA’s partnership with the Bauchi state government to empower young people through education and entrepreneurship skills acquisition.

The event, organized by the Bauchi State Government, Office of Sustainable Development Goals, and UNFPA, aimed to harness the potential of young people, who constitute over 35% of the state’s population.

Commissioner for Budget, Economic Planning, and Multilateral Coordination Alhaji Aminu Hammayo announced plans to establish Digital Incubation centers to engage and support youths in harnessing their potential.

The state government will partner with the African Development Bank and the Federal Government of Nigeria to equip youths with essential digital skills and Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills.

Director General of the SDG Bauchi office, Mrs. Lydia Shehu, highlighted the importance of exposing participants to digital-driven opportunities for economic development and achieving SDGs in the state and country.
