A prominent businessman and resident of Bauchi State, Alhaji Usman Ya’u -Darazo, has cautioned against dragging Mr. Bala Wunti, a key leader within the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), into political controversies.

Yau-Darazo gave the warning while briefing newsmen on a tournament to honor Wunti’s service, a 7-aside football tournament is set to take place in Bauchi on Friday,

He emphasised the need to recognize and celebrate Wunti’s remarkable contributions to community development rather than allowing political distractions to overshadow his legacy.

He said the bringing together football talents, community leaders, and media representatives.

“Bala Wunti’s Legacy of Service
For over 30 years, Wunti, who recently transitioned from Group General Manager of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS) to his new role as Chief Health, Safety, and Environment Officer at NNPC Limited, has played a significant role in transforming Bauchi State.

“His contributions include awarding scholarships locally and internationally, constructing and rehabilitating schools.

“Supporting farmers with fertilizers and other resources to boost food security, Building bridges, boreholes, mosques, and fencing burial grounds.

“Renovating hospitals and organizing medical outreach programs, providing job opportunities and skill acquisition programs.and distributing food items to the less privileged.

According to him, despite these commendable efforts, Wunti has recently faced attempts to drag his name into partisan politics.

Yau -Darazo stressed that the tournament serves as a reminder that public service should be celebrated, not politicized.

“This tournament is about honoring a man who has dedicated his life to serving others. It’s a reminder that public service should be celebrated, not politicized.

“We want to inspire the youth and everyone in Bauchi to focus on the positive impact one individual can make when they commit to the betterment of society,” Yau-Darazo stated.

He said the football event will highlight unity, sportsmanship, and the importance of acknowledging true service to the people.
