Borno Backs Federal Government’s Accelerated Senior Secondary Education Programme

The Borno State Government has thrown its weight behind the Accelerated Senior Secondary Education Programme (ASSEP), a federal initiative designed to revolutionize educational development in the North East region.

The Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur hosted the programme’s Project Implementation Team (PIT) in his office, assuring them of the state’s full support.

“ASSEP aligns with our vision for educational transformation.

“We look forward to seeing practical and measurable results emerging from this important project.” Dr. Kadafur said

Dr. Mariam Masha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Regional Developments Programmes, highlighted ASSEP’s focus on driving market-relevant knowledge.

“This programme is a major policy drive to bridge the educational gap in the country, beginning from the North East,” Dr. Masha said.

According to her, the programme is part of the Federal Government’s efforts through the North East Development Commission (NEDC)

“To transform education outcomes in Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba Yobe States aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda,” She said.

The team also engaged with stakeholders in education sectors, coordinated by Commissioner for Education Engineer Abba Lawan Wakilbe.

“ASSEP is a potent game-changer for Borno State’s educational landscape,” Wakilbe said.

Teachers expressed gratitude to the Office of the Vice-President and NEDC for the initiative, citing increased productivity and improved student understanding.

conducted an assessment tour of schools,

That includes Yerwa Girls Government Secondary School, Government College Maiduguri, Government Girls Secondary School and Sheu Garbai School and inspected the science laboratories and the ICT centers in the schools

By supporting ASSEP, Borno State Government reaffirms its commitment to quality education and human capital development.
