The Member Representing Bauchi Federal Constituency in Bauchi State Hon. Aliyu Aminu Garu has reaffirmed his commitment to immunization in Bauchi Local Government Area (LGA), which is classified as a Zero-Dose LGA.

Garu made the commitment after a meeting with the Zero Dose Learning Hub (ZDLH) Advocacy Team, led by AHBN Coordinator Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba and Hon. Muhammad Usman, at the National Assembly office in Abuja.

The discussion centered on scaling up immunization efforts and addressing gaps in vaccine access to ensure no child is left behind.

The ZDLH Advocacy team provided insights into the Bauchi ZDLH landscape, outlining key interventions and the need for enhanced CSO participation in immunization policymaking, increased budgetary allocations, timely fund releases, and strengthened accountability mechanisms to improve immunization outcomes.

Garu welcomed the initiative and pledged to include additional funds in his next year’s constituency budget to support Primary Health Care (PHC) centers and immunization activities.

He also committed to joining the Bauchi ZDLH Community of Practice (CoP) on joint PHC visits.

The lawmaker’s commitment is a significant boost to immunization efforts in Bauchi LGA, where vaccine access remains a challenge.

The ZDLH Advocacy Team emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts between policymakers, CSOs, and local health systems in ensuring effective implementation of immunization programs.
