The Bauchi State Government has condemned Senator Shehu Buba’s recent statement on the Zaranda village killing, labeling it “baseless” and “politically motivated.”

The government has called on security agencies to invite the senator for clarification.

At a press briefing, Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs Abubakar Abdulhamid Bununu criticized Senator Buba for politicizing security issues on Sunday in Bauchi.

Bununu emphasized the need for objective and informed commentary, particularly from those in positions of authority.

The controversy surrounds a video where Senator Buba alleged that personnel from the State Agency for Vigilante and Youth Empowerment were responsible for the killing of one person in Zaranda village, Toro local government area.

Bununu stressed that the matter is under investigation and that conclusions should not be drawn

He assured that the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, in collaboration with security agencies, would not tolerate baseless allegations that could compromise peace in the state.

The Bauchi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, urging citizens to disregard unfounded claims and support ongoing investigations.

“This unnecessary sensationalism will not be tolerated, and we will take all necessary steps to protect the state’s security and stability,” Bununu said.
