In a bid to improve education outcomes and reduce the number of out-of-school children, the Bauchi Local Government Area has launched a comprehensive initiative to enhance school infrastructure and safety.

The Chairman Alhaji Mahmud Baba-Maaji announced the initiative at a Stakeholders meeting on Enrollment Drive Campaign in Bauchi on Tuesday.

The council would implement various measures under the Safe School initiative, including renovating classrooms, providing essential furniture, and installing security alarms.

Baba-Maaji emphasized the need for community involvement in protecting schools from vandalism and ensuring a conducive learning environment.

The Chairman pledged to prioritize education and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve this goal.

He noted that the council’s efforts would support the federal government’s homegrown school feeding program and improve education outcomes.

“The council’s initiatives demonstrate its commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for children to learn and grow.

“By prioritizing education and safety, the Bauchi Local Government is taking concrete steps towards a brighter future for its children,” he said

UNICEF Enrollment Officer Alhaji Saleh Mohammed commended the council’s efforts and urged them to address school dropout challenges and ensure safe learning environments.

The District Head Alhaji Nuru Jumba called for proper supervision and maintenance of school properties, expressing concern over the lackadaisical attitudes of school management and teachers.
