Abuja, Nigeria – August 15, 2024 – Bashir Hadejia, an alleged mastermind behind the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, has been arrested by the police on charges of treason, subversive activities, and involvement in transnational crimes, including gun-running and heists. Hadejia’s arrest follows a series of intelligence reports linking him to a plot to destabilize Nigeria.

According to sources familiar with the case, Hadejia has confessed to being part of a larger scheme aimed at undermining the Nigerian government. During his interrogation, he reportedly named several high-profile figures as co-conspirators, including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal Dare, and Jackson Ude, the publisher of PointBlank News.

Hadejia also implicated a former National Security Adviser, General Aliyu Gusau, as the chief sponsor of the protests, alleging that Gusau played a central role in coordinating the destabilization efforts. The suspect was reportedly found in possession of incriminating documents, including those related to impersonation and an international passport from the Republic of Vanuatu, valid until September 14, 2030.

The arrest of Hadejia comes amid heightened concerns over the security and stability of Nigeria, with authorities now focusing on unraveling the full extent of the alleged plot. The police have indicated that further investigations are ongoing, with more arrests potentially on the horizon as they seek to dismantle the network of individuals involved.
