Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, highlighted that the lack of adequate notification regarding the demolition of tourist and recreational facilities, along with other properties in the Oniru corridor, including sections of Landmark in Lagos State, for the construction of the Coastal Highway, is hindering Nigeria’s ability to attract foreign direct investments. Recently, several recreational centers in Lagos have been demolished to fast-track the construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has consistently defended these demolitions, emphasizing the need to clear the landmark center and other properties within the Federal Government’s Right-of-Way.
