The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi has inducted 591 graduate engineers across its engineering related department into the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE).
Speaking during the second induction ceremony of the University held at the Yelwa Campus on Saturday, the Chairman of NSE, Engr. Abdulkareem Hassan, said that the University has set a pace for others over its decision to induct the exceptional graduates as engineers.
He charged the new set of engineers to be good ambassadors of both the institution and NSE.
He added that engineering as a sector, is a pillar of the society and has responsibilities to solving numerous problems.
“This induction, particularly the one we had in ATBU last year, gave room for others. I’m telling you that ATBU is leading others.
“We are the first to implement the graduate engineers induction,” he said.
Also speaking, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Mohammed Kunya, expressed satisfaction and confidence in the newly inducted graduates, saying that university would upscale its contributions to the engineering and technological advancement of the society.
Also, the Dean, faculty of engineering, Prof. Sulaiman Dodo, explained that the inductees were drawn from the different departments after thorough assessment and satisfaction of all the requirements by the students.
The graduates were drawn from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology –Petroleum Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering and others.
Awards of excellence were presented to the best graduating students in the faculty and departments.
