Bauchi university commissions career, entrepreneurship centres

The Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), Bauchi, unveiled a new Career Service Centre, an Entrepreneurship Development Centre, and commissioned a 500KVA generator at its Yuli Campus, in a strategic move to strengthen skill development and institutional capacity.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, weekend in Bauchi, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, described the new centres as pivotal additions aimed at bridging the skills gap and enhancing employability.

“Not only for students but also for staff, the university community, and the surrounding regions.

“These projects mark a significant milestone in our institutional journey, reflecting our steady progress toward becoming a true Centre of Excellence in scholarship across diverse academic disciplines,” she said.

Prof. Tahir expressed deep gratitude to TETFund for its continued partnership and support.

“The Career Service Centre and the Entrepreneurship Development Centre were fully funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), while the 500KVA generator was provided by the university. She said,

She also lauded the Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (Kauran Daular Usmaniyyah), for his enduring commitment to the university’s growth.

“His investment in education continues to shape the direction and depth of our institutional advancement,” she stated.

The Vice Chancellor encouraged students and staff to make full use of the facilities and affirmed that similar centres have been established at the university’s Gadau and Misau campuses,

Dr. Wasilu Suleiman, Director of the Human Resources and Career Development Centre, noted that the Centre is designed to equip both students and alumni with relevant skills, knowledge, and opportunities to thrive in an evolving global marketplace.

He emphasised its role as a cornerstone for career empowerment within the university.

Also speaking, Dr. Salisu Ibrahim Waziri, Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, highlighted the Centre’s dual focus on skills acquisition and mindset development.

According to him, the goal is to bridge the gap between the growing demand for labor and its supply.

The event, attended by top government officials and TETFund representatives, marked a historic stride in ZAZU’s commitment to academic excellence and practical empowerment.
