The Chairman and Convener of the political pressure group “Is Good to be Good,” Alhaji Ibrahim Lawi has dismissed rumors of a rift between Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District.
Lawi dismissed the rumour at a public consultative meeting that comprises retired civil servants, on Sunday in Bauchi, where speakers unanimously supported Ningi’s candidacy.
He emphasised that the two leaders are united, and their relationship remains strong.
Lawi cautioned the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to avoid past mistakes and ensure a level playing ground in the upcoming party primaries.
He urged GovMohammed to prioritize fairness and equity, allowing a popular candidate to emerge and securing the party’s continued dominance beyond 2027.
Lawi praised Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi’s loyalty and dedication to the PDP, stating that he has “duly paid his dues” and deserves the gubernatorial ticket in 2027.
The group endorsed Ningi’s aspirations, citing his qualifications and instrumental role in Gov Mohammed’s emergence and reelection.
The pressure group, comprising retired civil servants, held a public consultative meeting on Sunday, where speakers unanimously supported Ningi’s candidacy.
They acknowledged Governor Mohammed’s infrastructure development efforts and emphasized the need for a qualified successor like Ningi.
According to Lawi, “Abdul Ahmed Ningi has remained faithful and loyal to the PDP since its formation, he has duly paid his dues to the party,
“Therefore, 2027 should be his payback year, the PDP in Bauchi State should honor him with the gubernatorial ticket to succeed Bala Mohammed.”
Lawi also warned against money politics in the 2027 elections, urging the people of Bauchi State to choose the best candidate for the governorship position.
He emphasized the importance of fairness, equity, and justice in the party’s primaries.
The group’s endorsement of Ningi’s candidacy has been seen as a significant boost to his gubernatorial aspirations.
With the support of the “Is Good to be Good” group, Ningi is poised to become a strong contender for the PDP’s gubernatorial ticket in 2027.
