The Bauchi State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat kidnapping in the state.

This is contained in a statement signed by SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Bauchi

On November 10, 2024, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, in collaboration with other security agencies, successfully apprehended two individuals believed to be key informants for a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating in the Alkaleri area of Bauchi.

The suspects, who are currently assisting the police with their investigation, have confessed to their involvement in multiple kidnapping incidents in the Alkaleri region.

Their confession has revealed a disturbing pattern of surveillance and targeting of affluent individuals visiting the villages.

According to the police, the suspects were involved in a kidnapping incident in Garin Gambo village on September 7, 2024, where a ransom of four million naira (N4,000,000) was demanded.

They were also implicated in another case in Gub village, where a perpetrator received three million naira (N3,000,000) for the release of a victim.

The suspects’ involvement in a third case in Anguwan Gero resulted in the abduction of three individuals, two of whom were tragically killed despite a ransom of fourteen million naira (N14,000,000) being paid.

The police have commended the suspects’ cooperation and have assured that they will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.

This breakthrough is a significant milestone in the police’s efforts to combat kidnapping in Bauchi State.
