FAWOYDI, PLAN International Empower Girls with Sexual Health Rights in Bauchi

Fahimta Women and Youth Development Initiative (FAWOYDI), in collaboration with PLAN International’s Aspire Project, has taken a groundbreaking step towards advancing girls’ access to sexual and reproductive health rights and services in Bauchi State.

At a recent Local Government Area (LGA) level conference in Toro, Bauchi State, FAWOYDI and PLAN International brought together stakeholders to promote NGOs-Government Partnerships for Scaling Up Sexuality Education.

Mr Dina Daniel, Executive Director (ED) FAWOYDI, represented by Mustapha Idiris, M&E manager explained the objectives of the meeting is to enhance girls’ access to sexual and reproductive health rights and services.

“Strengthen partnerships between NGOs and government for effective sexuality education.

“To Foster community involvement in promoting sexual reproductive health rights,” he said

He urged the stakeholders present to embrace this project as it has come to help the adolescent girls to achieve their dreams

“By empowering girls with knowledge and access to sexual and reproductive health services, would reduce maternal mortality rates, prevent child marriages, promote healthy relationships and enhance girls’ education.

In a remark, The Chairman Toro LGA , Allhaji Ibrahim Dambo said the initiative is a welcome development.

He noted that the program is timely as the rate of lesbianism is high in their various communities. With a promised to ensure that all school heads were train on the need for sexuality education

Our girls deserve access to quality reproductive health education and services. We commend FAWOYDI and PLAN International for their efforts.”

On her part, Wasila Adamu Community Health Worker said “I’ve seen firsthand the impact of limited access to reproductive health services.

“This partnership will strengthen our community’s health systems and save lives.” She said

The Stakeholders at the conference include Council Chairman, Education Secretary, head teachers, community leaders, health workers, Students among others.
