Governor Bala Mohammed emphasized the crucial role of Boundary Managers in fostering peace and cooperation among diverse communities, urging them to develop effective strategies to address existing border disputes and prevent future conflicts.
Mohammed made the call at the opening ceremony of a two-day sensitization workshop for Boundary Managers from Bauchi and neighboring states (Gombe, Taraba, Plateau, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Yobe) on Wednesday in Bauchi
He stressed the importance of collective effort in ensuring boundaries promote unity and strength.
Represented by Deputy Governor Mohammed Auwal Jatau, Mohammed commended the National Boundary Commission’s (NBC) commitment to resolving boundary disputes, acknowledging historical tensions and conflicts.
He assured the state government’s full commitment to supporting NBC’s efforts, recognizing collaborative action’s importance in achieving sustainable solutions.
Surveyor Adamu Adaji, NBC Director General, emphasized the workshop’s role in fast-tracking peaceful resolution of boundary disputes and sought support for prosperous borders.
Hajiya Amina Katagum, Bauchi State Commissioner for Lands and Survey, welcomed participants, highlighting the workshop’s theme: “Towards a Peaceful and Prosperous Borders.”
The workshop underscores the commitment of the National Boundary Commission, Bauchi State Government, and neighboring states to resolving boundary disputes and promoting peaceful coexistence.
