The Nigeria Customs Service Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘D’ Bauchi says it intercepted contrabands with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N20,330,225 between Sept 6 to Oct 8, 2024.
Our Correspondent reports that FOU Zone ‘D’ Bauchi covers nine states of Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Yobe, Plateau, Benue, and Nasarawa
Comptroller Aliyu Abubakar stated this at a news conference on Wednesday in Bauchi, saying it is a significant breakthrough in its anti-smuggling efforts,l.
He revealed that the seizures include 16,635 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in 628 jerry cans and 4 drums,
Six sacks of fresh donkey skin containing 78 pieces each and other items.
Abubakar attributes the unit’s success to robust information gathering and intelligence sharing with other customs units, such as the CIU, Customs Police among others.
He reiterated the unit’s commitment to enforcing customs laws and suppressing smuggling activities in the country.
Comptroller Abubakar however appealed to patriotic citizens to provide credible information to help curb smuggling, which threatens Nigeria’s economy.
