The director national orientation agency Bauchi State Mrs Theresa Omaga has charged all public institutions, private organisations and non governmental organizations to strictly adhere to the Nigeria’s national symbols across the state.
Leading a team of the agency to some of the institutions in the state on Tuesday, Mrs Omaga highlighted that according respect to these national symbols is not just a matter of constitution, but a way of promoting patriotism.
She said the sensitization is part of activities outlined by the agency to mark this year’s National Ordinance Day, observed annually on September 16.
The NOA boss in the state stressed the need for all institutions to display the correct version and size of the Nigerian flag and directed replacement for any of the symbols that is damaged or worn out.
She mentioned some of the symbols include the National Flag, Coat of Arms, National Anthem, Nigerian Currency, Constitution, and Nigerian Passport adding that respecting the symbols can foster a deeper sense of national pride and commitment to the unity and peace of Nigeria.
“This campaign is about more than compliance—it’s about instilling a sense of pride in being Nigerian, by reminding citizens of the value of these symbols, we hope to inspire greater unity and a commitment to peace and security in the nation”, Omaga said.
The NOA Director further explained that this year’s focus is on ensuring every government office, private business, and non-governmental organization in Bauchi State proudly displays the national flag.
Our correspondent learnt that some of the institutions visited include: The Independent Corrupt Practices Commision (ICPC), the State Ministry of Housing and Environment, Polaris Bank, the Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA), and the Shippers Council of Nigeria.
She hinted that the agency plans to visit schools, civil society organizations (CSOs), and tertiary institutions, as well as expand the initiative to all 20 local government areas of the state to extend the campaign’s reach.
All leaders and representatives of the agency visited welcomed the idea and pledged to continue according the needed respect to the Nigerian national symbols in all their activities.
