A member of the Bauchi State Assembly, Dayyabu Ladan Muhammed, has raised concerns about the severe shortage of agricultural extension workers in the state, warning that it poses a significant threat to food security.
Presenting a motion during plenary, Muhammed emphasized that the scarcity of extension workers has directly impacted farming activities and food productivity, leaving many farmers without access to essential government services.
He urged the state government to recruit more extension workers to support farmers and mitigate the effects of food insecurity. If the situation persists, Muhammed warned that efforts to improve food production in the state will be unsuccessful.
Fellow lawmakers supported the motion, calling on the state government to expedite the recruitment process to address the manpower gap and ensure food security in Bauchi State.
