The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs and Social development, Bar. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye has given hoteliers in Nigeria under the auspices of Nigeria Hotel Association (NHA) until six weeks to put their house in order against accommodating underage girls in Nigeria hotels.

The Honourable Minister spoke to our correspondence in Abuja on Monday after an interface with the National leadership and state chairmen of the association from at least 30 states of Nigeria.

Bar. Uju argued that the hoteliers themselves will not allow their own under age children to be accommodated or lodged in hotel as fathers, hence the need to protect other girls with equal vigour.

“Hoteliers have six weeks to put their house in order to put a stop to that as anyone she caught will not only face a mobile court but risk closure”. She said.

According to her, she is not a respecter of any tribe at the expense of doing the right thing adding that she will use mobile court against any hotel flouting the policy.

Earlier in his address, the National President of Nigeria Hotel Association His Highness Eze Dr. Patrick C. Anyanwu assured that hoteliers in Nigeria will support the initiative as much as possible.

Eze Dr. Patrick C. Anyanwu said he gathered the leaders of the hotels from the length and breath of the country to come and hear from the horse’s mouth on the issue of underage girls in hotel.

Recall that this is not the fits time the Minister of women affairs is calling hoteliers on this issue, but this is the first most of them represented their states.
