The Director, National Orientation Agency Bauchi State branch Mrs. Theresa Omaga has hailed the peaceful process of the just concluded Local Government council election in the entire 20 local government Council of the state.
Speaking to our correspondent on Monday at Federal Secretariat Bauchi, Mrs. Omaga said;
“Before the election, we went round the state asking people to engage in the process peacefully, and to the glory of God, it was done peacefully.
“In fact, we have monitored the election, the only challenge we discovered was late arrival of materials. But, apart from that we saw people lining up, casting their vote and we did not see any fight or any quarrel.
” From the reports I got from the local governments, we did not here any tension from any part of the state. We thank God and also the people of Bauchi for comporting themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner just as we have enjoined them to do it violent free”, She said.
The NOA director in the state however admonished anyone with grudges about the outcome of the election to toe the legal path as enshrined in the constitution adding that the Bauchi state Chief judge had already opened window for that and committed to addressing their core concerns legally.
Recall that the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) had slated Saturday 17 August 2024 for the election given the directive of the Supreme court of Nigeria that local government elections are to be conducted in every state.
